Purpose & history:

1. Mission:
UNANIMES, a non-profit organization, exists to assist social aid organizations committed to counseling, guidance and restoration. In order to accomplish this UNANIMES seeks to raise economic capital and to recruit human resources to give these teams: counsel, training and financial support aiming to make them more effective performance.

2. Vision:
To reach out to children and the elderly at risk, drug addicts, alcoholics, prostitutes, homosexuals, and victims of domestic violence by creating micro-businesses to support and channel resources to organizations which seek to restore the lives of our target population through psychological, social and economic aid.

3. Declaration of values:
The values of UNANIMES fundamentally oriented to establish an organization based on responsibility, faithfulness, honesty, transparency and integrity.

4. Declaration of the organization's establishment:
UNANIMES is a non-profit organization established in 1998 by businessmen and women and professionals who desire to reach out to drug addicts, alcoholics, prostitutes, homosexuals and those who suffer any type of physical or psychological aggression. After an initial period of research, it was discovered that there are around 50 national organizations in Costa Rica that exist to help our targeted population. Originally, it was thought that the best way to support these teams was to organize a yearly concert with the double purpose of increasing the awareness of the needs and raising an economic support for them. Thus on March 13, 1999 UNANIMES organized a concert in Costa Rica's National Stadium. The event achieved its stated goals: it connected many people with needs to those organizations dedicated to help them. Shortly after this time, it became evident that a yearly financial aid was a short-term solution for a long-term problem. Many of the organizations were not prepared to receive a new influx of persons needing their help and as a result many of those seeking help were turned away. There was a missing link: without adequate funding and development these groups cannot grow. Based on this experience a longing was born within to establish a strong permanent ministry that will provide the necessary resources to sustain those organizations that work with our targeted population.

5. Description of the Target Population the organization helps :
Our target population consists of drug addicts, alcoholics, prostitutes, homosexuals, children and elderly who are at risk and victims of domestic violence. We intend to reach out to this population by supporting the following organizations:

16 organizations oriented to the marginal communities.
8  organizations oriented to the children of the streets.
11 organizations oriented to the penitentiary centers.
2 organizations oriented to the elderly.
2 organizations oriented to the homosexuals and prostitution.
7 organizations oriented to the restoration of adult women.
18 organizations oriented to the restoration of adult men .
6 organizations oriented to the restoration of children and adolescents.
1 organization oriented to the restoration of the family.

Besides these groups other groups will be formed once adequate funding is available. Some of the steps described in the process of rehabilitation (see appendix 3) do not currently have working ministries addressing these needs. UNANIMES will also encourage the development of new ministries. .

6. Descripción del proyecto:
In order to contribute to the management of those specialized ministries that qualify for our support (see appendix 2) we need to carry out several projects that shape the cornerstone of our vision:

i. Organization Profile:

UNANIMES will evaluate each organization at their location of ministry based on the following criteria:

a) Legal Status: an analysis and verification of official registry with the Costa Rican government.
b) Administrative/Financial status: an analysis of the administrative and accounting processes and procedures and its corresponding control systems as well as an analysis of the financial resources and assets.
c) Operating status: Analysis of the objectives and results in accordance with its mission/vision statement.
d) Analysis of the physical and organizational infrastructure.

ii. Legal and Accounting/Administrative Set Up:

For those ministries that need it, UNANIMES will help them form associations or foundations. Furthermore, it will help organize all the administrative/accounting procedures in order to properly supervise ministry assets and to maintain the highest of Christian testimony.

iii. Ministry Support:

Qualified professionals will be hired by UNANIMES in the different fields to provide free consultation to ministries on matters of organization, administration and finances. UNANIMES will give administrative oversight to this activity.

iv. Economic Support to Ministries:

1. Donations:
UNANIMES will collect the economic resources from public and private sector that includes the following entities:

a. Official Sources: IDB(Interamerican Development Bank), BCIE (Central American Bank of Economic Integration), WB (World Bank), providing from a national plan/budget.

c . Churches: Continuous support through monthly commitments
d . The business sector: Receive, through tax-deductible gifts, donations of goods as well as fixed or occasional gifts.
e . Individual: Organizing special events to make our effort known and to solicit one-time and regular donations.

2. Small and Medium Business (SMB) Management:

In order to provide a permanent income to the ministries, UNANIMES will organize a chain of small and medium businesses (SMB) in which UNANIMES will invest up to a 51% through direct investments and could contribute with up to an additional 49% financing. These organizations will contribute on a monthly basis (10% of the gross income or $200.00 - whichever is higher) to be a part of a temporary investment fund. UNANIMES will also receive 51% of the business dividends. The monthly contributions will go to the ministries and the annual dividends will go to aditional SMBs. The terms and conditions for this initiative are detailed in appendix 4.

vi. Special Out Reach Events:

In coordination with the ministries, UNANIMES will organize events specifically for our targeted population with view toward identifying and reaching out to them.
